The Newton Hall Joblings. In Northumberland in and around Bywell St. Peter lived a family of Joblings of some stature, whose family tree is well documented in the histories of Northumberland.
Robert Jobling was the second son of John Jobling of Newton Hall & Barbara Cresswell, born 16th October 1751, died 18th October 1820. He was a wine merchant of Newcastle and Newton Hall. He married Margaret Hannay in 1792. The `Armiger` on his plaque suggests he was entitled to a coat of arms, but the College of Arms say that there is no existing record of any Job(p)ling coat of arms ever having been granted. The mystery remains and the church at Bywell St. Peter is a `must visit` for Joblings touring in the area.
