Fred Waistell Jopling

Harold Jopling, Stonemason (click here for text)  Harold belongs to a well known Durham family, long associated with Durham Cathedral.  His grandfather, William Henry Jopling, has a door dedicated to him, with latin words that translate roughly as follows.  "Lord, remember William Henry Jopling, who was filled with the spirit of God and used his skills in carving wood".

Arnold Jopling who belonged to a branch who lived in Weardale and can be traced back for many decades.  

 

Reverend Harris Joplin- after whom the town of Joplin, Missouri, USA, was named.  Harris was a friend of John Cox, who founded the city in 1871.  The Rev. Joplin was a Methodist missionary who travelled with John Cox from Tennessee in 1840.
